What is a tissue silk saree and how is it different from a regular silk saree?

Tissue silk is woven with a fine metallic thread running through the fabric, giving it a subtle shimmer that a plain silk or georgette saree doesn't have. It's typically lighter in weight but holds its structure and pleats well.

How do I choose the right saree for a wedding look?

Gold and ivory tones are the most traditional choice for the wedding day itself, while silver grey, lavender and mint green work well for a reception or festive evening event without overpowering the occasion.

Are Peeli Dori tissue silk sarees hand-embroidered?

Every piece is made to order, and 12 of the 19 designs in this edit are hand-embroidered, with 5 of the 19 featuring zardozi metal-thread work.

What is the price range at Peeli Dori?

These sarees are priced from ₹17,500 to ₹45,500, with a median of around ₹26,500 across the 19-piece collection.

Which colours are available in this edit?

The edit includes gold, silver grey, ivory, mint green, lavender, powder blue, gulabi pink, sage green, taffy pink and French green, with gold and silver grey the most represented shades.

What blouse pairs well with this fabric?

A contrasting or plain-toned hand-embroidered blouse usually lets the fabric's metallic sheen stand out best, rather than a blouse with its own heavy embroidery competing for attention.

Does Peeli Dori ship internationally?

Yes — shipping is free within India on orders above ₹10,000, and free internationally on orders above ₹49,000.

Tissue Silk Sarees – Hand-Embroidered and Made to Order

Tissue Silk Saree: A Hand-Embroidered, Metallic-Sheen Drape

Peeli Dori's tissue silk saree edit is a focused collection of 19 designs, priced from ₹17,500 to ₹45,500, with a median of ₹26,500. Tissue silk carries a fine metallic thread woven through the fabric itself, which gives it a glow under evening light that a plain silk or georgette drape doesn't have. Every piece is made to order, and 12 of the 19 designs in this edit are hand-embroidered. The base weave is fine enough to layer embroidery on without adding real bulk, which is part of why it's long been used for festive and bridal drapes across India.

Why Choose Tissue Silk?

Sixteen of the 19 sarees here are built on tissue fabric specifically, prized for combining a light weight with a crisp, structured drape — it holds pleats cleanly without the heaviness of a traditional silk saree. That mix of shimmer and structure is what makes tissue silk well suited to wedding and festive dressing, particularly for events that run into the evening. The fabric sits between the stiffness of organza and the softness of chiffon, giving it a distinct hand-feel of its own. It also photographs well under both daylight and artificial light, since the metallic thread catches light from more angles than a matte fabric would.

Hand-Embroidered Tissue Sarees with Zardozi Craftsmanship

Twelve of the 19 pieces in this edit carry hand embroidery, and 5 of the 19 feature zardozi — the metal-thread work traditionally associated with festive and bridal drapes. Rather than a printed motif, zardozi is worked directly onto the tissue base by hand, stitched along the border and pallu, so the detailing sits slightly raised rather than flat.

Dressing for Weddings & Festive Occasions

Gold and ivory options remain the classic choice for the wedding day itself, while silver grey and the softer lavender and mint green shades suit a reception or festive evening without competing with a bride's own outfit. The GULMOHAR (₹45,500) in powder blue and the Paro Gold (₹25,500) both show how the metallic base fabric carries embroidery for a formal evening look, while a piece like the Nilima (₹17,500) in ivory works well for a daytime function instead. Because the drape holds its shape, it also suits a longer day of moving between functions without needing to be re-pleated.

Colours: Gold, Ivory, Silver Grey & Pastel Tones

Gold and silver grey each appear three times in this edit, with ivory, mint green, lavender, powder blue and gulabi pink following at two designs apiece, and single pieces in sage green, taffy pink and French green. The ELOISE (₹29,500) in taffy pink sits at the softer end of that palette, a contrast to the metallic gold and silver pieces. Pair any of these with a hand-embroidered blouse in a contrasting tone so the fabric's sheen stays the focal point rather than competing with a heavily worked blouse.

Buying Guide: Price & Styling

Prices across the collection run from ₹17,500 to ₹45,500 depending on the piece, and every design here is made to order, with hand embroidery on 12 of the 19 pieces. If you're building a full look rather than a single piece, our blouses and dupattas pair well with this edit, and our broader saree collection is worth a look if you want more fabric options in a similar price bracket.
